Vaisala starts change negotiations in parts of its business in Finland

Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence for climate action, announces the initiation of change negotiations in Finland in response to the recent slowdown in the Weather & Environment business area. 

Vaisala expects the full-year net sales for its renewable energy business to be about EUR 15 million below last year’s level. Moreover, order intake declined in meteorology and aviation market segments during the first half of 2025. To address the lower market demand in renewable energy, Vaisala has sharpened its focus on the wind energy and maritime sectors, identified as having the greatest growth potential for Vaisala within this market segment. In addition, Vaisala is implementing necessary cost control measures and adjusting its organization.

Consequently, Vaisala starts change negotiations in Finland. The negotiations cover parts of the Weather & Environment business excluding Xweather, as well as parts of the Operations function and group-level functions. The negotiations exclude the Industrial Measurements business area. According to the initial estimate, the change negotiations could lead to a reduction of maximum 45 positions. The negotiations cover 620 employees in Finland. In total, Vaisala employs close to 2,500 employees, of which around 1,600 in Finland.

The negotiations are expected to be finalized by the end of Q3/2025. The negotiations do not cover any other countries.
