Vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP or vH2O2) is a safe, effective bio-decontamination method for removing microbial load from surfaces. It is used to decontaminate isolators, cRABS and transfer hatches in the pharmaceutical and life-science industries, as well as cleanrooms, biosafety cabinets and hospital rooms.
Measuring the process is not just about H2O2 concentration in ppm: relative saturation also matters during the cycle —the total humidity caused by water vapor and H2O2 vapor together—, which indicates when the air is about to condense. A repeatable, validated cycle depends on measuring these parameters stably, even in highly condensing conditions.

What makes Vaisala's PEROXCAP® technology unique
PEROXCAP® combines two HUMICAP® capacitive thin-film sensors: one has a catalytic layer that decomposes H2O2 and measures humidity only; the other, without that layer, measures water and peroxide together. The difference between the two signals yields H2O2 concentration, relative humidity and relative saturation. The sensing element is kept warm to prevent condensation, and a rapid-heating purge function removes impurities and maintains accuracy between calibrations.
