Instrumentation by magnitude

Humedad

Humedad relativa y absoluta para control ambiental, procesos farmacéuticos, HVAC e instalaciones industriales. Medición puntual o continua.

Relative humidity expresses how much water vapor the air holds relative to the maximum it can retain at that temperature. When a process needs to control the condensation point rather than an ambient percentage — in industrial drying, compressed air or gas lines — the relevant variable becomes dew point instead. Both coexist in applications as different as pharmaceutical cleanrooms, data centers and food warehouses.

Technology

What makes Vaisala's HUMICAP® technology unique

Construction of the HUMICAP® capacitive thin-film polymer sensor

Vaisala measures relative humidity with HUMICAP®, a capacitive thin-film polymer sensor: a polymer layer between two electrodes that absorbs and releases water vapor according to ambient humidity, changing its dielectric properties and, with them, the capacitance that the probe's electronics convert into a humidity reading. The upper electrode is a corrosion-resistant conductive material that protects the active layer from dust, dirt and conductive particles.

  • Typical accuracy of ±0.8 %RH on standard sensors
  • Long-term stability — in most cases only annual recalibration is needed
  • Expected sensor lifetime of 10 years or more, with low total cost of ownership
  • Fast response time and low maintenance
  • Wide operating range — test chamber probes from −70 °C to +180 °C
  • Portfolio of environment-specific probes — HVAC, classified areas, explosive atmospheres (Ex), cleanrooms
